Short Description
Pell Software engineered a scalable, multi-tenant integration platform that allows our client to onboard an unlimited number of construction partners between Sage Intacct and FieldFlō. Featuring a visual configuration UI that abstracts complex API logic into a simple dashboard, the system enables rapid, error-free deployment of dedicated sync instances tailored to the specific business rules of every individual end-client.
The Challenge
Our client needed to act as a central bridge for a vast network of construction firms, each utilizing its own Sage Intacct environment. The real challenge wasn’t just data movement, but designing a scalable architecture that could support hundreds of partners without creating a new integration for every client’s specific needs.
Specific hurdles included:
- The Complexity Gap: Every partner has a unique way of categorizing data (e.g., specific LocationIDs or Project Statuses). Manually writing the “surgical” filter strings required by the API was too technical for standard account managers and prone to human error.
- The Onboarding Bottleneck: Traditional one-off integrations are slow to deploy. Our client needed a “factory” model where they could spin up a new partner in minutes, ensuring each partner had its own isolated data environment for security and performance.
- Data Integrity & Isolation: In a multi-tenant world, Partner A’s massive 10,000-item inventory sync cannot be allowed to slow down Partner B’s employee updates. The system needed a way to handle high-volume processing independently for every client.
The Solution
Pell Software developed a two-layered solution: a Visual Configuration Portal for ease of use and an Azure Batch Backend for enterprise-grade power.
1. Visual Configuration: “Code-Free” Surgical Filtering
We replaced the need for manual API string entry with an intuitive, UI-driven configuration engine.
- Intuitive Logic Builders: Instead of typing complex filters such as “LOCATIONID;EqualTo;210”, administrators use simple dropdowns and textboxes to define their custom filters and rules.
- Automatic String Generation: The portal takes those visual selections and automatically generates the complex, background logic strings required by the sync engine. This ensures that even non-technical staff can configure “surgical” filters with 100% accuracy.
- Real-Time Settings Management: Changes made in the UI are instantly reflected in the background sync instance, allowing for “on-the-fly” adjustments as a partner’s business needs evolve.
2. Scalable, Isolated Instance Model
To handle the scale, we built a multi-instance deployment framework.
- Independent Execution: When a new partner is added, the system “spawns” a dedicated instance of the sync logic. This ensures complete data isolation and allows each instance to run at its own pace without impacting other clients.
- Azure Batch Compute: For the “heavy lifting,” we utilize Azure Batch to provision dedicated compute nodes for each sync task. This prevents execution timeouts and ensures that even the largest data transfers are completed within the 10-minute sync window.

The combination of a visual interface and a scalable backend has turned the integration process into a competitive advantage for our client.
